We never stop learning, right? With this in mind, I'm always on the hunt for and take a few courses every year. I just finished one, in fact, to prepare myself mentally for the Celebration of Fine Art Show in Scottsdale early next year. '21 Days to Creative Abundance" is a course for anyone wanting to hone their artistic habits and tap into their best creative selves. Who doesn't want that!
I was happy to learn that I already have pretty good habits and just needed a little dust up and polish. I also learned how to eliminate distractions, which is a big time-saver. Plus, from my experience as a professional writer, I already knew that the muse doesn't show up unless you are already in the process of creating. You just have to keep at it - constantly. So, my work as a writer has prepared me for my life as a mixed-media artist. I work every day, only taking a rest day, or a partial rest day, when I'm too drained and need to replenish my spirit.
I don't know how others feel, but when I hit my creative stride, it feels like I'm dancing - heck, sometimes I actually do! So, perhaps this abstract, mixed-media piece at left says it all about how I feel. 'Ice Dancing' is color and swoosh and fun and shine. I could be dancing in air, dancing in a ballroom, or dancing on ice, my skirt twirling with glittering light all around me, living with absolute joy.
